Virtual Uganda Tourism Fair at the end of April: The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo 2021 will take place completely online for the first time this year, from April 27th to 29th, 2021. As every year, the tourism fair is organized by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB).
This year the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo, POATE for short, is taking place for the sixth time. But due to the global corona pandemic, this year will be completely virtual for the first time. The tourism fair Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo is a multi-day event organized by the Uganda Tourism Board and brings together all players in the tourism industry. These include regional and international tour operators, travel agencies, other agencies, media and journalists. The aim is of course networking and exchange in order to promote the tourism sector.
Restarting Tourism for Regional Economic Development
The motto of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo 2021 is “Restarting Tourism for Regional Economic Development”, ie the resumption of tourism for regional economic development. Because the tourism sector has grown into an important branch of the economy in Uganda. Before the corona pandemic and global travel restrictions related to COVID-19, revenue from tourism was around 3.5 percent of Uganda’s total gross domestic product.
Participation in the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo 2021
Event date: The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo 2021 (POATE) will take place from April 27th, 2021 to April 29th, 2021. It is a pure, completely virtual event. A pre-registration is neccessary.
Registration: Trade visitors from the tourism sector and media representatives can register free of charge to participate on the POATE.co.ug website.
